INTRODUCTION:
My name is Adele McAlear and I am an integrated marketing consultant specializing in social media. I’ve been connected to the social media community for 3 years and have built a solid network of people who work in technology and disciplines using digital media.
For the last year, I’ve taken on a research project about Death and Digital Legacy and have:
- Interviewed individuals, developers and service providers about their experiences and perspectives
- Spoken at technology and social media events about digital legacy and ad overwhelmingly positive feedback from people attending my sessions
- Been featured in mainstream media including, The New York Times, the Canadian Press and this week, CanWest Global newspapers, as well as other outlets
- Launched a dedicated blog for the subject
Currently, I am the only person in Canada, and one of only a handful in the United States, who is actively speaking about this topic and examining it from a multi-disciplinary point of view. That is, I look at a vast array of connected issues including mourning, development, technology, security, privacy, ownership, copyright, digital immortality, legacy, archives, and legal issues related to estates, wills and executors. I do not currently represent a business in this space.
PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR LAWYERS
I am looking to partner with a law firm, lawyer or organization that has an interest in this area of research. I am seeking an exchange of information: I would benefit from learning more about the legal aspects of this topic, as you would benefit from knowledge of how technology issues may create opportunities for you in estates and wills.
